Biography
John D. Bresnahan, 87, passed away late Tuesday, July 27 at Bayview in St. Augustine, FL. He was born on January 27, 1923 in Ayreshire, Iowa. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army and was commissioned as an officer and saw combat during World War II and Korea. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and received five Purple Hearts along with several other decorations during his service.
After the war he became a business leader in the transportation industry, eventually becoming a senior executive with PIE and later Ryder Truck Lines.
He was a devoted father and loving husband to his first wife Elaine, who preceded him in death, and to his second wife Barbara who survives him.
Other survivors include his sisters, Jule, Marilyn, and Kay, three children, six Grandchildren, three Great –grandchildren and many other family and friends.
There will be a gathering of family and friends Thursday, July 29 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Craig Funeral Home. The Memorial Mass will be Friday at 9:00 am at St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
