Abby Vose

Abby Ella Vose passed away at her home on April 30, 2022 at the age of 99. A native of New London, CT, a longtime resident of Wallingford, CT and resident of St. Augustine, FL since 1998, Abby was one of five children born to Glenn and Julia Bly. She had a simple and loving childhood. Her first and only job was working as a telephone operator. After meeting her late husband, Harold Vose, she devoted the rest of her life to her family and church. Harold and Abby were married 59 years and had three sons, William, James and John. She was a faithful and active member of the Baptist Church where she served the needs of the elderly shut-ins and those in nursing homes. Her ministry included visiting, sending cards and pairing teenagers with an elderly person in need of a friend.Abby also enjoyed traveling and writing. She would often write about her travels and was a gifted poet. Her legacy is one of a devoted and loving,wife, mother and grandmother. Abby will be fondly remembered for her childlikeness, and friendly and cheerful nature.She is survived by her three sons, William A. Vose, James G. (Janice) Vose, John T. (Jane) Vose; 5 grandchildren, Sarah, David, Lily, Luke, Thomas; 2 great-grandchildren, Jane and Robin. Her husband Harold and grandson Wes preceded her in death.A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-11 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am at Turning Point at Calvary Baptist Church and burial at Craig Memorial Park in St. Augustine.
