    Anna Scala

    March 7, 1930 - October 31, 2020

Anna Scala passed away peacefully at her daughters home in St. Johns, Florida on October 31, 2020 at the age of 90. Anna was born in Kurejewka, Poland. She and her family survived the devastating years of WWII but life remained hard for decades to follow. Being the devoted mother of 8 children, Anna chose to immigrate to the United States in 1974 to provide a better life for her family. She settled in New York City where she worked two jobs, seven days a week, as a seamstress in a factory and as a weekend housekeeper. As a devout Catholic for all of her life, Anna found both strength and comfort from her faith. She met and married the love of her life, Antonio Scala in Maspeth, New York. Following retirement in 1997 they moved to Cocina Crossing in Elkton, Florida to be close to her daughter and her grandchildren. Following Tony's passing, Anna lived with her daughter Eva and son-in-law, Nick. While there she often spoiled them with her delicious cooking, which she always enjoyed. Anna is survived by 6 children; Eva and Nick Suciu, Teresa Randzio, Grace Podworzynska, Bozena and Riszard Kukier, Alicja Wadolowska; son Ted and Grace Kirejczyk; brother, Edward Chelminski; 23 grandchildren, Daniel and Michael, Pawel, Wojtek, Chris, Mark, Ula, Rozalia, Karina, Czarek, Anna, Dorota, Wiola, Ewa, Beata, Jacek, Andrzej, Adam, Emilia, Jarek, Sylwia, Ewelina, Anna and many great grandchildren. Her husband Tony, son, Christopher, sister, Boleslawa and infant daughter preceded Anna in death. Her legacy is one of a devoted mother and grandmother, a loving wife to Antonio, and an industrious and extremely hard working woman with a generous hand and a warm heart. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Craig Funeral Home, followed by burial at San Lorenzo Catholic Cemetery in St. Augustine, Florida. We will be recording the service for those who are unable to attend.
