Doris Pearl Porter

December 20, 1931 - February 14, 2022

Doris Wilson Porter, age 90, matriarch of the Porter family, passed peacefully with her daughters by her side on February 14, 2022. She was a native of St. Augustine, FL, and proud of her Minorcan heritage. She graduated from Ketterlinus High School, and married Fed N. Porter in 1949. Over the years, she worked a variety of positions, including secretary to the Senior Vice President of Florida East Coast Railroad in St. Augustine, hairstylist at Fay’s Hairstyling Salon, and consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and Mother Advisor of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Doris loved her family fiercely and deeply. She enjoyed playing the piano, dancing, bowling, and time drinking coffee and watching nature from her back porch. Most recently, she found happiness at Harbor Chase of Mandarin where she was adored by the residents and staff as much as she adored them. She was pre-deceased by Fed N. Porter, her husband of 50 years; her son, Fred N. Porter; her parents Fred E. (“Dick”) and Pearl D. Wilson; and her sister, Fay Wray Moore. She is survived by daughters Doris Fay Wameling (Michael Wameling); Charlotte Poltenovage (Michael Poltenovage); and Mary Lisa Long Porter (daughter-in-law); seven grandchildren (Heather Burns, Melissa Burns, Trevor Burns, Shane Porter, Lance Porter, Wade Poltenovage, and Craig Poltenovage), eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews in Florida and North Carolina. Services will be held at Craig Funeral Home, 1475 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, FL, with the Reverend Clarence Blalock officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Craig Memorial Park.
