Jean Mari Shaner

May 27, 1928 - March 4, 2022

Jean Marie Brown Shaner age 93, went home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2022. Her daughter, Peggy Linardos, and son-in-law, George Linardos, were by her side in St. Augustine, Florida. Orphaned at age three, she began her life’s journey at Scotland School for Veterans Children in Chambersburg, PA where she was an outstanding athlete and student leader. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Mechanicsburg, PA, where she was secretary for both the school and church for twenty years. Jean had an extraordinary love of sports. On any given Saturday you could find Jean rooting for her beloved Notre Dame or shooting hoops with her children and grandchildren. She loved coaching and encouraging young athletes to strive to be their best while coaching both the Mechanicsburg Swim Club and the first girls’ basketball team at Trinity High School in Shiremanstown, PA. Jean is survived by her children: Frank Shaner and his wife, Karen of Mechanicsburg, PA; Jeanne Geiling and her husband, Jim of Mechanicsburg, PA; and Peggy Linardos and her husband, George of St. Augustine, FL. Her six grandchildren (Brian, Jamie, Megan, Galen, Stephanie and Matthew) and fourteen great-grandchildren. Jean will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
