Louis Anthony Clukey

Louis Anthony Clukey passed away peacefully on December 6, 2021, at the Bailey Center for Caring St. Augustine Florida. He was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his passing. Lou was born on April 25, 1934, in Dexter Maine and lived there until he joined The Navy in 1953. Lou married Nancy Gould on August 13, 1955. He left The Navy after 4 years in 1957 and went to work in the grocery store business as a produce manager for Safeway Grocery Stores. He was promoted to store manager where he stayed until retiring in 1986. Lou & Nancy bought a home in Bowie, Maryland and raised four children there for 25 years. In 1987 Nancy and Lou moved to St. Augustine where he decided to go back to work and was at Publix Grocery stores for another 20 years. Lou enjoyed fishing, reading, puzzles and especially watching The Florida Gators in any sport that was on TV, He was also an avid gardener and loved feeding the animals at his home in Coquina Crossing. Louis is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jayne Clukey, and his daughter Alicia Lynn Clukey. Survivors include three children, Micah SR (Mary) Clukey, Stacia (Bob) Guild, Kirk (Trudi) Clukey; grandchildren: Micah JR (Carly) Clukey, Drew (Abby) Clukey, Molly (Dustin) Vaughn, Melissa Wright, Cameron Wright, Joshua (Becky) Clukey, Matthew Clukey, Timothy Clukey, and Hannah Clukey, and eight great-grandchildren. A family gathering will take place at a later date next year to celebrate Louis’ life. Memorial denotations may be given to Community Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville FL 32257. We are very grateful for the wonderful care and support staff of Hospice gave to Louis at home and at the Bailey Center.
