    Meri McCarthy

    December 2, 1941 - February 24, 2021

Meri H. McCarthy left this worldly life on February 23, 2021 at 11:32PM. She is survived by her husband Leo McCarthy and her son, Matthew McCarthy. Leo would like to share a few words with you about their life together. "Sharing a life through a marriage is almost never thought of as the remarkable thing it actually is. Two people decide to become one, not physically but spiritually. They come together to build a life that is better than that which they would have had by themselves. They exchange vows, to love, protect and defend their marriage and any children they may be blessed to have. Along the way there are occasional bumps in the road and sometimes they crash and the marriage dies. But if they survive the twists and turns and unpredictability of life, they grow stronger in their love and acceptance of each other's foibles. Meri and I accepted each other for who we were and not for what we wanted each other to be. For us, the day we met was always our anniversary. The day we married, September 23rd 1968, just made it legal and socially acceptable. We met on February 23rd 1967. She graced my life for 54 years, 53 of them as my wife. I am trying to understand what, if anything, this means, the exact same date 54 years later! I am sure that I will often think about this and ponder it’s meaning until the day I take my last breath. She will always be in me. It is said that you live as long as you are remembered and die only when you are forgotten. She lives on in me and in the memories of those who knew her and loved her. Rest in peace, sweet Meri, rest in peace.” A private Zoom memorial will be held for close friends and relatives. Those wishing to remember her may contribute to their favorite charity or to an animal shelter of their choice. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
