Michael Dale Gassman
April 21, 1953 - January 24, 2022
Michael Dale Gassman passed away in his sleep in Lake City, FL on January 24th, 2022. He was born to the late Charlie and Ruth Gassman on April 21, 1953 in Dubuque, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church and attended Holy Ghost School, where he served as an Alter Boy. Mike graduated from Hempstead High School and ran the Gassman Marina for 7 years on the Mississippi River in Bellevue, Iowa. Mike moved to Atlanta, GA where he began his family. Shortly after, they moved further south to Florida where they all planted roots. Mike is survived by his daughter Lyndsey Gassman (Joseph) and son Ryan Gassman (Hannah), brothers Dave Gassman and Glen Gassman (Valerie), and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Mike enjoyed life to the fullest and was known as a weather enthusiast. He had a great love for Iowa (Go Hawkeyes!) and returned frequently. He especially loved to visit during July when the sweet corn was harvested and he could go on pontoon rides on the Mississippi River! He was a devoted father and enjoyed golfing, hunting, darts, playing corn hole, and weekends in St. Augustine. He dearly loved his friends and family and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A Celebration of Life Service is being held February 5th, 11:00AM at City Church, 1191 SW Bascom Norris Dr Unit 103 Lake City, FL 32025. Followed by a reception at Quail Heights Country Club located at 161 SW Quail Height Terrace in Lake City, FL 32025. Mike had a generous heart for those who are less fortunate.
