Patsy Cunning Hernandez

Patsy Cunning Hernandez age 93 of St. Augustine passed away February 7, 2022 to join Bert, her husband of 73 years who just passed away 5 weeks ago. She was a lifelong resident of St Augustine, a devoted catholic and a 100% Irish woman. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy and married her high school sweetheart, Bert. After graduating from SJA she attended Barry College in Miami. She had several careers in addition to raising five children. Her first job was with Frankie Walker and Pappy Schilling at the WFOY radio station. After raising her children to school age, she took a position as a Teacher's Aide at Crookshank Elementary School, with the St. Johns County School District. Next she acquired a position with the US Postal Service as a Rural Route Carrier where she retired after many years. She was a member of the Cathedral-Basilica Parish and a long time member of the Altar Society. She loved her Irish heritage especially St. Patrick’s day which was also her birthday and her namesake. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and affectionately known as “GG”. She is survived by her daughter Patty Ann Lopez (Charlie) son Rick (Luie) son Doug (Toni) son Norman (Pam) and daughter Cecilia Huffman (Bernie) sister Bubbles Parry, sister Tootsie (Ed) Parry. Grandchildren: Dan & Ryan Lopez; Michael, Matthew, Missy, Leigh, Drew and Macy Hernandez; Joel, Kyle and Brian Huffman. She also has nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bert Hernandez Jr. , mother and father Brian and Eileen Cunning and brother Brian Cunning Jr. Special thanks to Community Hospice. Their care was exceptional. Funeral services and burial will be as follows: visitation 5-7pm Wednesday February 16, 2022 with prayers at 6pm at Craig Funeral Home. A funeral Mass in the Cathedral 9:00am Thursday February 17, 2022 with burial to follow in San Lorenzo.
