GERTRUDE FRANCES PONCE KEHOE born in St. Augustine, FL November 17, 1921 passed Peacefully December 28, 2020, St. Augustine Florida The middle of three daughter born into a rich Menorcan heritage she was the daughter of Milford Alphonso Leonardo Joseph Ponce and Alma Susan Olynn Ponce. She was raised on Cunningham Ave. St. Augustine, by their dear grandmother Florida Marcella Ponce at the early passing of both their parents. Their beloved Auntie and Uncle Sarah Bonita Ponce Lopez and Celestino raised the 3 girls between Tampa and St. Augustine, Iva, Gertrude and Almarie. Not formally educated Poncie was extremely gifted with numbers and very bright. A local lady met Poncie in her youth while working downtown and took her in to mentor and teach bookkeeping. A skill she used into her 90's managing The Morris Family Trust for over 60 years. She was predeceased by her husband Tommy, daughter Terri, 2nd husband Vinny; niece Randi Carole Cowart and sister Iva Ponce Cowart Goepp. The Ponce sisters were closer than most siblings with a continued daily interaction of love and faith with her surviving younger sister Almarie Ponce Colee. In her early 20's Poncie was a switchboard operator at Camp Blanding where she met a handsome soldier Thomas F. Kehoe they were married in St. Augustine Florida in 1946. The love of their life a daughter Terri Frances was born in St. Augustine January 29, 1947. In 1948 the family moved to Naples Florida where Tommy was an FHP trooper and Veterans affairs officer until his death in 1982 Poncie legally changed her name to G. Ponce Kehoe and was affectionately known as Poncie, Tia G and Aunt Glitter for her incredible style and fashion sense. Always perfectly dressed in beautiful clothes and sparkle; her favorite being leopard print and anything that sparkled. In Naples she was employed from 1948-1980 as a bookkeeper for the Morris family. Until her death she managed the Family trust sharp as a tack! 1980 she returned to her beloved hometown St. Augustine. Her extended family enjoyed her and her daughters' gift of decorating and entertaining. She was the hostess for many family gatherings. An active member of the St Augustine Shores Riverview club and the St. Augustine Ballroom Dance Association she met her dance partner Vincent Bosco who she wed and enjoyed the addition of his Children, Janet, Robert and Richard and grandchildren Her wisdom and faith was shared at her kitchen table over coffee with her nieces and nephews who she adored and adored her. Her answers for all life's trials was LET GO AND LET GOD. An active member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church, her rosary beads were never further than a reach. And the dedicated staff of Vitas Hospice. Living on to cherish her memory are her beloved sister Almarie Ponce Colee Her devoted caregiver nephew and wife Tim and Bonnie Cowart, Nephew and wife Ken and Karen Cowart, niece Donne Jean Cowart. Her great nieces and nephew who were so very blessed to have her in their lives and the recipient of her loving prayers, Melissa Owen, Joe, Greg and Tina and Tyler Cowart, Brenda and Marty Matheny, Scott McCall. 15 great, great nieces and nephews, 5 great, great, great nieces. Prayers will be 5:00 PM Thursday January 7, 2021 visitation will continue until 7:00 PM at Craig Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated be 11:00 AM Friday January 8, 2021, St. Anastasia Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Tim Lindenfelser, Pastor celebrant. Burial to follow San Lorenzo Cemetery. In keeping with the COVID -19 guidelines we ask that all attendees wear mask and practice social distancing. We also ask that if you are at high risk, feeling ill, or traveling from an area with a high level of infection, please do not attend the visitation or service. St. Anastasia Church will offer live streaming for those who can not attend in person.
