Father Richard Gerald Marshall

July 29, 1928 - June 10, 2022

Father Richard Gerald Marshall passed away peacefully at the Bailey Center for Caring on June 10, 2022, at the age of 93. Richard was one of two children born to Richard and Hazel Marshall in Detroit, Michigan. After earning a BS in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Institute of Technology, Richard worked in the automotive and aviation industries before moving his young family to Huntsville Alabama where he worked for Boeing Aerospace Company. He contributed to the success of the Apollo, Skylab, and Space Shuttle programs. He began a second, 20-year career by earning a Master of Divinity from the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest, then serving as a priest at three Episcopal churches in Alabama. Richard and his late wife of 39 years, Melba Jo Marshall, retired to St. Augustine where they became active members of Reconciliation Episcopal Church where Father Richard also served as a priest. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jenifer and Lawrence Grover of Huntington, WV, granddaughter, Erin Marshall of Chicago, Illinois, and sister, Sharon Cline of Brighton, Michigan. His wife Jo, second wife, Gloria Jennings and son Richard preceded him in death. A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 2:00 PM with Funeral Services beginning at 3:00PM. Father Richard will be buried in Huntsville, Alabama at Maple Hill Cemetery following a graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Habitat for Humanity or Hospice.
