Robert George Ortagus, 98. Born in Jacksonville, Florida November 1923 to George A Ortagus and Margaret Pysher. Passed away peacefully in St Augustine, Florida on December 5, 2021. He is survived by his wife Carolyn N Ortagus of 42 years and her two sons Thomas Fryman, Evans, GA and Jerry Fryman, St Augustine, FL. He also survived by his daughter Margaret (Peggy) Stevens of Portland, OR and her son Charles W Coker JR and his great granddaughter, Hania Rose Prescott Coker 6, Panama. S.A. Granddaughters Kelly E Ortagus, New York and Sondra Hoffman, Washington D.C. of the late Robert (Bobby) George Ortagus, JR. He proudly attended Auburn University, with a degree in Agriculture Science, before entering the U.S. Army in WW II in July 1944 assigned as a 1LT with the 63rd Infantry Division. Upon leaving U.S. Army, he owned Ortagus Ferneries, a wholesale florist, in Mandarin, for over 20 years. He was a Sheriff Deputy with St Johns, County, Florida State Prison, and a United States Marshall office. He loved boat, fishing and travel. Most of all, he always loved people. Memorial gathering will be January 8, 2022 from 10:00 -12:00 at Craig Funeral Home, in St. Augustine
