Roger Lee Combs Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Roger L. Combs Sr. was called to our Heavenly Father on July 26, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Beckley, West Virginia before moving to Mobile, Alabama. Roger graduated from Auburn University where he started out in architectural engineering before majoring in Business Administration & Accounting. He was a strong and successful businessman. Roger and his brother Don Combs owned Fact-O-Bake and C& H Lures and were two of the founding partners of Salt Life. He had a passion for his Alma Mater, Auburn University, watching the Tigers football games and spending over forty years as a season ticket holder traveling to games with family and friends. He was an avid offshore fisherman and tournament winner, competing in tournaments in St. Augustine, Florida as well as the Bahamas. He owned several boats over the years, all appropriately named WAR EAGLE. He was a founding member of the Northeast Florida Marlin Association of St Augustine (Camachee Cove) as well as a past President and member of the Northeast Florida Marlin Club. Roger also enjoyed hunting, golfing, casinos, crossword puzzles, and taking his RV to Auburn and other places. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and the love of his life for almost 61 years, Janice L. Combs; his four sons Roger L. Combs Jr. (Terri), Keith T. Combs (Dylan), Tim L. Combs (Aislynn), and Chris M. Combs (Michelle). His grandchildren; Lauren Wilkes (Brandon), Daniel Combs, Mason Combs, Jonathan Combs, his great granddaughters, Reagan, Carter, and Lincoln Wilkes and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Davis (Raymond). He is preceded in death by his mother, Bea Combs and his brother, Don Combs. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 10:30am at Craig Memorial Home at 1475 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, Florida with a celebration of life to follow at the Northeast Florida Marlin Club at Camachee Cove. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
