Shaun Szarnicki Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Shaun Szarnicki, 66, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend left this world on July 7, 2022, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in McGregor, Texas on November 5, 1955. Being a military spouse afforded her the opportunity to live in many locations and travel extensively. Shaun found Saint Augustine as the perfect location for retirement living as well as a base for RV travel. An eight-month trip along the eastern seaboard was the highlight of the many miles along the roads less travelled. Shaun was an ordained minister, chaplain to the American Legion Auxiliary and Notary Public. She found great reward in comforting those in need and celebrating significant events in our neighbors and friends lives. Shaun was a kind and generous person who gave freely of her time and talents to numerous charities as well as veterans, social and benevolent organizations. She crocheted nearly 40 afghans, one for each child at the High Plains Children’s Home in Amarillo, Texas, ensuring that each child had one unique item they call their own. Shaun was creatively gifted; a writer, painter, sculptor and photographer. She was a great dancer and known for her five-inch high heels from an amazing collection. Shaun is survived by her loving husband and partner of 38 years, Paul, daughter Melissa (Nathan) of Jacksonville, and brother, Robert (Alina) of Miami. A celebration of life will take place later in the summer for family and friends. The family requests memorial donations be made to The American Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors.
