    Terina Sera

    June 23, 1929 - August 4, 2019

Terina Sera went to be with the Lord on 8/05/19. Born in Holguin, Cuba in 1929, she was the third youngest of 11 children. While in school, her best friend, Gladys, played matchmaker for her favorite brother, Orestes, a US soldier who was away fighting in World War II. She sent him her picture. This was a beginning of a one-way correspondence from him to her via Gladys because of the strictness of her parents. Eventually, her parents reluctantly resigned themselves to accepting the happy couple. Theirs was a soul mate, lifetime of love for nearly 60 years until his passing in 2007. They raised four children as the Army life kept them on the move. She was always ready to make the adjustments positive for the family. The travels included: Panama Canal Zone, State of Washington, Fort Knox-Kentucky, Fort Dix-New Jersey, Germany, and Fort Jackson-South Carolina, before retiring to the Miami, FL area. One of the highlights for her, was becoming a proud American citizen. She along with her husband, Orestes, shared a great love and appreciation for this country. Having experienced the tyranny and loss of freedom in their birth country, Cuba, awakened in her, a love for and desire to stand for liberty. Her adventures did not end with the Florida retirement. Next, they moved to Costa Rica where they built a home and new life on a family farm in Turrialba. She loved the unspoiled beauty of nature there; the mountains, rivers, flowers, birds and butterflies. The people were so friendly, helpful and kind. She shared their love of music and dancing. It was in Costa Rica that she confirmed her commitment and life to her Lord, Jesus Christ. After about 22 years, they returned to Florida. Her smile, laughter and love were contagious. That quick word of encouragement and friendly manner will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker only begin to describe her life. Although she would rank them as most important. She is survived by her sons; Alex Sera and Victor Sera, her daughters; Sylvia Sullivan and Moni Heiser, her sons-in-law; Royce Sullivan and Spencer Heiser and daughter-in-law, Monica Sera: 11 grandchildren; JJ Parker, Paul Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, Matthew Sera, Tiana Sera, Christopher McIntosh, Josiah McIntosh, Sabine Sera, Stacey Sera, Dante Sera, Alan Sera and 8 great-grandchildren. She is to be buried next to the love of her life at: Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102 nd Ave Bushnell, FL 33513 On August 14, 2019 at 11:00am In lieu of flowers she requested support for God and country: Please pray for America - https://nationaldayofprayer.org/ Or Please support President Trump (as she called him, ‘my President’) https://www.donaldjtrump.com/ Or please support our military – https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
